BA Thesis Design Project 2023
The project includes a visual identity concept for the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, located in the historic center of Vienna, Austria. It has one of the largest and most important art collections in the world with special emphasis placed on Renaissance and Baroque art. Hence, the focus is on the Picture Gallery. The permanent exhibition is known for its monumental feeling as you walk through the halls filled with prominent paintings.The visual direction is a light, elegant, and balanced look. The logo, a square with a round arch is a reference to the architecture and picture frames. In addition, the sans serif typeface Neue Haas Unica W1G adds neutrality and legibility, whereas the organic and elegant serif typeface IvyPresto Display imitates a traditional serif font and highlights the idea that contemporary design can embody historical elements with new interpretations. The main applications, brochure, and website, were chosen to demonstrate the concept in various media formats.
